Huge Potential Injury Blow for OG Anunoby

Despite holding an encouraging 2-0 lead over the Philadelphia 76ers, it might not be plain sailing for the New York Knicks yet as OG Anunoby has been diagnosed with a right hamstring sprain and will be labelled as ‘day to day’ and questionable for Game 3.

The 28 year old has been a mainstay in the Knicks starting lineup virtually ever since his mid-season trade from the Toronto Raptors in 2024.

A consistent steady contributor averaging 16.7 points throughout the regular season, Anunoby has stepped up in a notable way in this year’s play-offs.

Despite the likes of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges grabbing most of the headlines, the inconspicuous Anunoby is the Knicks second highest scorer in the post season at 21.4 points per game proving his importance to a team with real title aspirations.

Can the Knicks see out the series without Anunoby?

The news comes after the former Indiana star’s stellar performance in New York’s resilient 108-102 victory at Madison Square Garden, 24 points, 5 rebounds and a remarkable 4 steals proved to be crucial in edging his team ahead in such a close game from start till finish.

With a crucial doubler header in Philadelphia ahead of the Knicks, Mike Brown’s team will definitely be hoping that Anunoby can return to full fitness in lightning quick time to ensure they don’t follow in the Boston Celtics footsteps of throwing away a convincing play-off lead vs the 76ers.
