Botofogo are hoping to sell Arsenal transfer target Danilo for as much as €40m (£34.6m) this summer, according to reports in the Brazilian media.

Globo Esporte claim that a whole host of teams, including the Gunners, have shown an interest in the 25-year-old.

Mikel Arteta’s side are said to have “consulted” Danilo’s representatives about a potential move at the end of the season, along with Galatasaray, Benfica and Monaco.

Fulham and Zenit St Petersburg have even made it known that they are willing to table formal bids in the region of €30m (£26m), but the player has reportedly ruled out a switch to the latter club.

Manchester United, AC Milan and Barcelona are also said to be keeping tabs on Danilo’s situation ahead of the next transfer window.

The Arsenal target has played in the Premier League before

Danilo joined Nottingham Forest at the start of 2023, but he never established himself despite spending two and a half seasons at the City Ground.

The Brazilian made 62 appearances across all competitions, with 47 starts in total, but he was sold last year, with Botafogo paying a hefty €23m to secure his signature. That does explain why they have slapped a sizeable price tag on him now.

Danilo wants to return to Europe

Despite having moved back to Brazil less than twelve months ago, the midfielder is keen to have a second crack at the whip in a big European league.

Globo Esporte report that Danilo has set his sights on playing for a team who are challenging for titles on a regular basis, which is certainly a criterion that Arsenal can satisfy.

If he can’t secure the transfer he wants, he will push for a move to Palmeiras, where he started his playing career.
