Lil Wayne slams NBA referees for making Lakers game “unwatchable”

Rapper Lil Wayne did not enjoy watching his LA Lakers side lose to the Oklahoma City Thunder, especially as he felt the referee ruined the game.

Lil Wayne is a passionate and devoted Lakers fan, but he’s having to endure watching his team crash out in the playoffs as things stand.

The Lakers are 0-2 against the OKC Thunder in the Western Conference semi-finals after a 125-107 defeat on Thursday night, but it sounds like Lil Wayne thinks there is more to the latest defeat than meets the eye.

He’s not the only one who feels that way, either. Among the replies, NBA fans wrote: “The whistle blowing got so crazy I started checking if the refs were on Oklahoma City Thunder payroll.”

Another said: “Anything to prevent the Lakers from getting a fair series.”

A third added: “At this point just let the refs sub in and throw the free throws too.”

On the night, the Lakers were called up for 26 fouls compared to 21 against the OKC Thunder, while three Lakers players ended up in serious foul trouble and had to tread lightly for the rest of the encounter.

During the third quarter alone, the Thunder were awarded 14 free-throw attempts. At that point, the game transformed from a close tie to a comfortable win.

Lakers coach JJ Redick was not happy, citing the treatment of LeBron James in particular as unfair. He told ESPN: “LeBron has the worst whistle of any star player I’ve ever seen… The smaller guys, because they can be theatric, they typically draw more fouls, and the bigger players that are built like LeBron, it’s hard for them. He gets clobbered. He got clobbered again tonight a bunch.”

The two teams meet again on Sunday night and then again on Tuesday night to determine who will progress to the NBA Finals.

Additionally, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown was fined $50,000 for comments he made about referees during his Twitch stream.
