Celtic have been told to approach Thierry Henry about their upcoming vacancy in the dugout.

Interim boss Martin O'Neill has dragged the Hoops back into a Premiership title fight, with the champions trailing leaders Hearts by just three points with three games remaining.

There have been some calls to hand the 74-year-old the reins again on a permanent basis but on Friday, O'Neill dropped a big hint that he will step aside at the end of the campaign, with Celts also taking on Dunfermline in the Scottish Cup final on May 23.

The likes of Craig Bellamy, Jens Berthel Askou and Robbie Keane are said to be in the running to succeed the Irishman but Celtic have now been told to ask the question of Arsenal and France legend Henry.

The former striker has been out of work since a short stint as France U21 boss, leading the nation's Olympic team to a silver medal in the 2024 Olympics after losing in the final to Spain.

Prior to that, the 48-year-old endured difficult spells with Monaco and Montreal Impact and worked as assistant to Roberto Martinez in the Belgium national team and has now returned to his role as a top pundit for Sky Sports and CBS Golazo.

But Henry's old teammate for club and country Emmanuel Petit reckons a move to Celtic would be 'interesting' for the World Cup and Champions League winner.

Speaking to BOYLE Sports, he said: "Thierry Henry or Patrick Vieira are taking their time for the right role. Celtic are second and could still win the title but it's been a mess for the managers on the bench. Martin O'Neill has been amazing for this club all things considered.

"They are looking for a new manager, but Patrick has been managing in England, in France, in Italy. This question could be asked to Thierry Henry because it's been a long time now since he was a club manager, he was an assistant for the Belgium team, Celtic could be very interesting for him.

"If Celtic qualify for the Champions League, that would make a huge difference for new managers. That could be exciting for Thierry. I think the Champions League is something very important if he is going to be interested in Celtic."

Meanwhile, Frosinone attacker Fares Ghedjemis has been told that he 'deserves' to play at a higher level - just months after a January transfer to Parkhead fell through.

The Algeria international has netted 14 goals to help his side all but confirm their promotion back to Serie A with one game remaining.

And Frosinone hero Adriano Russo is in no doubt about the player's ability, telling Virgilio Sport: "Fares Ghedjemis is also a player who deserves to be seen on other stages, even at international level."
