Smith Entertainment Group unveils plans for next round of Delta Center renovations

SALT LAKE CITY — Now that both the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth’s 2025-2026 campaigns have come to an end, the Delta Center is set to go through a second round of renovations.

Smith Entertainment Group sent out a press release on Friday, and that was accompanied by an explainer posted to social media by Ryan Smith.

With the NHL arriving before the 2024-2025 season, the home of Utah’s professional sports teams needed a refresher to be able to support both hockey and basketball.

The plan in place was to update one portion of the arena each offseason. Last summer, the entire lower bowl was revamped. Over the next couple of months, the north end of the upper bowl will be the focus.

Next year, it will be the south end’s turn.

This summer, the north end of the upper bowl in the Delta Center will undergo renovations.

Smith explained that the plan for the north side is to take it vertical, comparing seating to a “double-black diamond” on the slopes.

“We’ve gone with a terrace-like structure,” Smith explained. “So instead of having something that goes long and back, we’ve gone extremely vertical. That view is pretty incredible.”

Above those seats is a new section that is called the gondolas. The renderings from SEG showed those seats above the rest of the upper bowl, looking straight down on the ice or hardwood. The press release explained that these suspended gondola sections run along each sideline and can seat over 200 fans.

The release also added that the parking garage on the southwest corner of the arena will be finished before the upcoming season as well.

Other Upcoming Delta Center Renovations

There will be more changes made to the home of the Jazz and the Mammoth than just the aforementioned upper bowl and parking garage updates.

The press release from SEG also teased some changes coming to the concourse and the plaza.

Additional upgrades and renovations coming to the arena include adding food and beverage options, updating concourses and concession locations with new and redesigned social areas, adding bathroom capacity, and expanding club spaces around the building. Future plans also include adding a new main entrance and outdoor plaza that will serve as a gateway to the heart of downtown.

Those changes were not attached to a date. For now, we know the north end of the upper bowl and the parking garage are scheduled to be finished before next season, and the south end will be worked on in next year’s offseason.
