What if I told you that Julian Champagnie is shooting the best playoff three-point percentage ever? Because Julian Champagnie is shooting the best playoff three-point percentage ever, and that's not a joke. I never joke about Spurs postseason hoops. (I'm lying. Yes, I do. Anyway.)
Best 3P% in NBA playoff history (min. 30 3PA):
58.8% — Julian Champagnie
51.1% — Rui Hachimura

For a team that would allegedly struggle to make shots on the perimeter, according to critics before the regular season, San Antonio has proven to be extremely deadly from long range. Champagnie's blistering shooting built on the hot streak he was on to end a six-month-long campaign.
Now that the big boy tournament is here, he's only elevated, and that makes Mitch Johnson's ball club impossible to defend. Just ask the Trail Blazers and Timberwolves.
Champagnie has become the Spurs' X-factor
This man was undrafted, signed, and cut in his first season with the 76ers. Now he's starting for one of the league's elite contenders and making a significant impact that cannot be overlooked. Champ came to San Antonio humbly, willing to do the dirty work to get on the court. He was a bit inconsistent at first, but what first and second-year players aren't?
JC stuck with the grind and earned his way into a pivotal role. He'll likely get a contract extension this summer, as he'll be entering the final year of his deal next season. The Spurs would be smart to lock him up as quickly as possible at a reasonable rate. Even if he can't keep up his ridiculous percentage, the damage has been done. Defenses will never sag off him willingly.
He gets open shots because defenders are forced to make a choice that doesn't have any good results. You either stay plastered to his chest to avoid his onslaught from beyond or you collapse the paint to crowd Dylan Harper, Stephon Castle, De'Aaron Fox, and none other than the 7'4" monster in the middle, Victor Wembanyama.
Giving those guys space to wreak havoc in the paint will lead to exactly that result. All four of them are destructive forces when they penetrate the lane. But again, Champagnie puts them between a rock and a hard place because he'll shoot them out of the gym. We're talking about the man who set the single-game record for most threes made just this season with 11.
It's a real "pick your poison" dilemma. There's no good answer. The best part about him is that he doesn't take bad shots either. He's fine with three attempts for the entire game if that's just how things flowed that night. Sleep on him, and that number can take a Hulk-sized leap. It's a formula that's proven more potent than anyone knew possible, and it will take them right to a championship.
