Knicks Announce Final Injury Status For OG Anunoby Before Game 3

The New York Knicks will be without OG Anunoby in Friday night’s Game 3 matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Anunoby suffered a right hamstring injury during the final minutes of Wednesday night’s Game 2 victory at Madison Square Garden. The talented two-way forward was initially listed as questionable for Game 3, but downgraded to out just over an hour before tipoff at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown revealed Anunoby’s status during a pregame press conference. He also said Josh Hart (sprained thumb) and Mitchell Robinson (illness) are available to play.

“OG is out, the other two guys are in,” Brown told reporters.

Anunoby is a key player for the Knicks on both sides of the ball, especially through their postseason run so far.

Through the Knicks’ six-game, first-round series win over the Atlanta Hawks, Anunoby averaged 21.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. Before sustaining his hamstring in the fourth quarter of Game 2 against the 76ers, he had 24 points, five rebounds and four steals.

“No matter who’s in or out … we just have to go out and try to do our job, whatever our job is,” Brown said of Anunoby’s absence. “Nobody has to do anything extraordinary.

“It’s going to be a collective effort for everybody to step up.”

According to multiple reports, Anunoby avoided any serious injury issues. He’s expected to return either during this series or the next, depending on how many games the Eastern Conference semifinals wear on.

The Knicks hold a 2-0 lead heading into Game 3, which will tipoff at 7 p.m. ET.
