Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs to a Game 3 win with 39 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks, becoming the first player with that stat line on fewer than 20 shots and joining playoff company with Shaquille O'Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-108 on Friday night to take a 2-1 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series, powered by a brilliant performance from Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama finished with 39 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks, making NBA playoff history.
He became only the fifth player ever to record at least 39 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks in a playoff game, joining legends such as Shaquille O'Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
He is also the first to achieve this stat line while attempting fewer than 20 field goals.
"It's good to be along with the big fellas," Wemby said about joining Shaq, Hakeem, and Kareem in the record books. "I had to resort to some things that Hakeem taught me in this fourth quarter ... especially that spin fadeaway over Rudy."
Game 4 will also be played in Minnesota.
"I've really been waiting since I've been in the league to live those moments, those high-stakes games. That's what I love," Wembanyama added. "I'm built for this. I love this more than anything else."
