The new contract will be two years, during which Kerr will remain the highest-paid coach in the NBA.

Last season, he earned $17.5 million.

Kerr will return to the Bay Area after weeks of speculation and murmurs about his future in the Golden State. Both he and the Warriors' leadership, from owner Joe Lacob to GM Mike Dunleavy, had extensive discussions regarding their commitment to the team and future plans.

The former NBA player and five-time champion will run it back with the Dubs, whose arrival in 2014 ushered the franchise to one of the sport's greatest dynasties.

Under Kerr's leadership, the Warriors won it all in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022, including a regular-season best 73 wins last 2025-16 season.

Kerr and the Warriors end their 2025-26 season in a disappointing note amid injuries, failing to qualify in the NBA Playoffs after losing against the Phoenix Suns in the Play-In Tournament.
