Warriors' Stephen Curry plans revealed after Steve Kerr contract news

Stephen Curry still has one more season left in his current deal, and the Warriors are planning to re-sign him and build a better roster.

The Golden State Warriors are expected to engage with Stephen Curry this offseason for a potential contract extension, per Shams Charania, Anthony Slater and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.

This came in the wake of Steve Kerr agreeing to a new two-year deal to remain as the Warriors' head coach, as the franchise intends to significantly retool and re-sign their superstar to a new deal.

"With Kerr back and Curry under contract for one more season -- and expected to have extension conversations later this summer, league sources said -- the front office intends to be aggressive in rearranging the roster to better compete for a playoff spot in a crowded conference," per report.

Curry will earn $62.5 million in the 2026-27 season, which would serve as the last for his current contract in Golden State.

He and the Dubs came up short of qualifying in the 2026 NBA Playoffs, losing against the Phoenix Suns for the final spot of the Western Conference postseason in the past Play-In Tournament.

Injuries mainly hindered the Warriors from competing and fulfilling their title expectations this year, highlighted by the brutal torn ACL injury of Jimmy Butler and Curry's lengthy late-season absence from a "runner's knee" injury.

Kerr inking a new contract should convince Curry enough to do the same and make a final push for the Dubs dynasty.
