Grizzlies jump up to #3 pick in NBA Draft

CHICAGO, Ill. (WMC) -The lottery balls bounced in the Grizzlies’ favor on Sunday, as the Beale Street Bears land the #3 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

Memphis had the sixth-best odds at the #1 pick after finishing with a 25-57 record this season. A trade deadline deal of Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz and Ja Morant publicly being put on the trade block signaled a new direction for the Grizzlies.

The 2026 draft is thought to be one of the best in recent memory, possibly going back decades. The class is headlined by BYU wing AJ Dybantsa, Kansas guard Darryn Peterson, Duke big man Cam Boozer, and North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson.

After Sunday’s results, it’s all but assured one of them will call FedExForum home next season.

The Grizzlies also have the #16 pick in the draft courtesy of the Phoenix Suns from a complicated pick swap originated from the Desmond Bane trade.

The NBA Draft will begin on June 22 from New York.
