The Washington Wizards won the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery, which means they'll have the honor of picking No. 1 toward the end of June.
The lottery balls worked out in the Wizards' favor, and it's what happened before that led them to get the top pick in the draft.
“The second lottery drawing for the No. 2 pick was a combination of 14-2-6-9 for the Utah Jazz. The very next draw was also the Jazz (2-8-11-7), so the re-draw was 13-4-10-6 and that went to the Memphis Grizzlies for the No. 3 pick,” Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Luckily for the Wizards, they didn't fall out of the top 4 like the Brooklyn Nets and Sacramento Kings did. The Indiana Pacers were also not able to stay in the top 4, which meant their pick went to the Los Angeles Clippers, where they'll pick No. 5 in the draft.

This felt like the vision for the Wizards all along, and though they were one of the worst teams in the league this past season, they made moves such as acquiring Young and Davis in hopes of being competitive for years to come.
Now they have a chance of adding a franchise-changing talent to the team, and it would be interesting to see who they decide to select come draft day.
