The Philadelphia 76ers' infamous Eastern Conference finals drought will continue after the team was eliminated from the playoffs by the New York Knicks Sunday at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
After a historic comeback in the first round vs. the Boston Celtics, the Sixers were blown out in Game 4 by the Knicks, 144-114, and swept in the Eastern Conference semifinals 4-0 as New York fans took over South Philly once again.
The Knicks came out scorching hot in the first quarter, drilling 11 of their 13 3-point attempts and leading the Sixers 43-24 after the first 12 minutes and never looked back.
Overall, the Knicks hit 18 3-pointers in the first half, which is tied for the most made in any postseason in the play-by-play era, according to the NBA.
Knicks guard and former Villanova standout Jalen Brunson scored 22 points and sank six 3-pointers. New York guard Miles McBride had 25 points and connected on seven 3-pointers.
Sixers star Joel Embiid, who has battled multiple injuries in the playoffs after getting an emergency appendectomy about a month ago, had 24 points and five rebounds in the loss. Tyrese Maxey added 17 points and had four assists.
The Knicks, who were without forward OG Anunoby for the second straight game, will play the winner of the Detroit Pistons-Cleveland Cavaliers series in the Eastern Conference finals.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
