Arsenal are interested as Mbappe’s Real Madrid fairytale fractures at the seams
Arsenal’s name is finally being linked to Kylian Mbappe in a real way. Emmanuel Petit, the man who won the 1998 World Cup with Zidane and secured a Premier League title at Highbury, thinks the Gunners are a serious option if things keep falling apart in Madrid. Speaking to Boyle Sports, Petit mentioned that Arsenal would jump at the chance to sign Mbappe and that he’d be a perfect option on their left wing.
However, Petit didn’t sugarcoat the reality. He doesn’t think Mbappe will choose to walk away from the Bernabeu on his own. In Mbappe’s mind, leaving Madrid without winning major trophies would feel like admitting defeat. According to Petit, the only way out is if Florentino Perez gives in to the massive public pressure, especially with reports of millions of fans signing petitions to get Mbappe out. Petit also pointed out something interesting that f Arsenal actually win their first Champions League title, it would completely change how they’re seen in the transfer market and send a massive signal to the world’s best players.
“Arsenal would love Kylian Mbappe, and he’d be perfect on their left wing. The only reason I think Mbappe will stay at Real Madrid is that if he leaves without winning a trophy, it would make his move a failure. Mbappe has a huge ego, so he will probably want to stay and to prove the opposite. I’m pretty sure about that. I don’t see him leaving Madrid, probably the biggest club in the world, unless the decision is made for him.”
“The only way he leaves is if Florentino Perez cracks under the pressure. Millions of fans have signed to say they want him to leave the club. That could be the end for Mbappe because Florentino Perez is a political guy. If Arsenal win the Champions League for the first time, then it would change the course of their history and send a strong message in the transfer market.”

On paper, Mbappe’s stats for the 2025/26 La Liga season are still world-class: 24 goals and four assists in 28 games. That’s 0.9 goals every 90 minutes, with a non-penalty xG of 0.72, putting him right at the top of the charts. But having only four assists shows he’s mostly focused on scoring himself rather than setting up his teammates.
Would Mbappe genuinely improve Arsenal or simply overshadow what Arteta has built?
To be honest, this move is a huge gamble for Arsenal. Mbappe’s pace and directness would be a nightmare for defenders on the left, and his finishing would provide the kind of clinicalness Arsenal have been missing in tight games. But his lack of creativity and his well-known habit of drifting toward the middle could mess with the system Arteta has spent three years building.

Arsenal’s success is built on everyone pressing hard and playing for each other, things that require total commitment. Whether Mbappe, with his massive ego and high demands, actually fits into that team culture is still a very big question mark.
