Joel Embiid leaves door open to shock exit from Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid admitted the Philadelphia 76ers' playoff elimination "sucks" and "hurts" and hinted that his future with the franchise could be uncertain: "I don't even know if I'm going to be here."

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers were eliminated from the 2026 NBA Playoffs after a 144-114 Game 4 loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday, ending the series in a sweep and leaving the former MVP still searching for his first NBA championship.

"I want to win more than anyone. It sucks to lose," Embiid said after the second-round exit. "I haven't won anything, so that hurts. But to go home and raise [my son], raise my daughter, look at my wife in the eyes and understand I'm a good man. Really, that's all that matters."

The seven-time All-Star also left the door open regarding his future in Philadelphia.

"I don't know who's going to be here. I don't even know if I'm going to be here, but whatever happens, happens," he said. "But for me, I'm excited about really getting back to myself."

Embiid appeared in 38 regular-season games this season and played six playoff games, averaging 24.0 points and 7.7 rebounds during Philadelphia's postseason run.

The star center has spent his entire NBA career with the Sixers since being drafted in 2014.
