"The jobs of Morey and head coach Nick Nurse are expected to be evaluated entering the offseason, multiple league sources told The Athletic," Jones reported. "As of Sunday's elimination, team sources said ownership has not made final decisions on either and is likely to take a few days to assess before making any major calls."
The Sixers were eliminated in the second round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs after being swept by the New York Knicks.
Philadelphia had previously rallied from a 3-1 series deficit in the first round to upset the favored Boston Celtics in seven games.
Nurse, 58, has been with the Sixers since 2023. Before arriving in Philadelphia, he led the Toronto Raptors to an NBA championship in 2019.
Morey, 53, has served as the 76ers' president of basketball operations since 2020.
In March 2025, he revealed on Pablo Torre Finds Out that the organization had used AI to help make key basketball decisions during the season. The comments drew criticism and mockery from both current and former NBA players.
