Anthony Edwards sent a strong message to Spurs rookie Dylan Harper during the Minnesota Timberwolves 114-109 Game 4 win over the San Antonio Spurs. Edwards revealed that during the final minutes, he warned Harper that he would have been posterized at the rim if the Timberwolves star had fresher legs.
Anthony Edwards helped the Minnesota Timberwolves bounce back in Game 4 with a 114-109 win over the San Antonio Spurs, but his biggest moment may have come after the final buzzer.
Following the victory, Edwards revealed what he told Spurs rookie Dylan Harper during the closing moments of the game.
"I told the rookie [Dylan Harper] a couple possessions before the end of the game, if I would've had my legs, he would've been dunked on. He knew that," he said in a post-game interview.
Edwards backed up the talk with a huge performance. The Timberwolves star finished with 36 points on 13-for-22 shooting while adding six rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 40 minutes. He also knocked down three of his five attempts from deep.
Minnesota took control in the second quarter after Victor Wembanyama was thrown out of the game. With the Timberwolves leading 36-34 and 8:40 remaining before halftime, Wembanyama hit Naz Reid in the throat with an elbow while battling for an offensive rebound.
After a review, officials upgraded the play to a Flagrant 2 foul, leading to an automatic ejection for the Spurs center.
The Timberwolves made the most of the momentum shift. Minnesota dominated the boards 49-41 and shot 37% from three-point range. San Antonio struggled offensively from deep, making only 23% of its shots from beyond the arc.
The series is now tied 2-2 heading into Game 5 on Tuesday in San Antonio.
