Anthony Edwards delivered a 36-point performance to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves past the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4, but the bigger story was history. Edwards joined Kobe Bryant and LeBron James in an elite NBA playoff group after becoming one of only six players to record 300+ fourth-quarter playoff points before age 25.
Anthony Edwards continues to build one of the most impressive young playoff resumes in the league, as he led the Minnesota Timberwolves to a key Game 4 win over the San Antonio Spurs while adding his name to an exclusive NBA history list.
Edwards finished with 36 points in the win, including a dominant fourth quarter, helping Minnesota tie the Western Conference semifinal series at 2-2. The performance came while he is still managing a knee injury suffered earlier in the postseason against the Denver Nuggets.
But the biggest story was history.
With his latest playoff scoring outburst, Edwards joined an elite group alongside Kobe Bryant and LeBron James after becoming one of only six players in the play-by-play era (since 1997-98) to record 300+ fourth-quarter playoff points before turning 25.
That list includes some of the greatest names in basketball: Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, and Dwyane Wade per NBA History.
Edwards also added another major milestone, recording his 18th playoff game with at least 30 points before turning 25, tying Dwyane Wade and trailing only LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Durant in that category, according to NBA Stats.
His Game 4 performance was especially important for Minnesota, as it helped them avoid going down 3-1 in the series. Edwards took over late, scoring 16 points in the fourth quarter and closing the game strong for the Timberwolves.
Now tied 2-2, the series shifts back to San Antonio for Game 5
