After the embarrassing sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers by the New York Knicks, the team could be in for an interesting offseason, where changes could be made. As there have been rumors around 76ers head coach Nick Nurse and Daryl Morey, another report would come about regarding the future of the team's president of basketball operations.
According to Howard Eskin, who has been around the Philadelphia basketball team for a long time, he would express how “changes are coming” for the franchise. He hears that the organization is “having serious discussions” to let go of Morey after a disappointing second-round exit.
“Changes are coming for [76ers] after another disappointing season,” Eskin wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “I'm told by sources Sixers organization having serious discussions to fire/replace Daryl Morey, President of Basketball Operations. His record since being hired by 76ers in 2020 has not been good enough to make it past 2nd Round of [NBA Playoffs]. Terrible track record of Draft Picks, Trades, and signings. Organization feels a change needs to be made.”

While there could be many opinions on whether the 76ers' season was a success or not, especially given how they overcame significant absences throughout the season and still beat the Boston Celtics in the first round in seven games. However, the sweep by the Knicks, capped off by a 30-point loss in Game 4 on their home floor, is enough for Philadelphia to evaluate not just Morey's status, but also Nurse.
“The jobs of Morey and head coach Nick Nurse are expected to be evaluated entering the offseason, multiple league sources told The Athletic,” Tony Jones of The Athletic wrote on Monday. “As of Sunday’s elimination, team sources said ownership has not made final decisions on either and is likely to take a few days to assess before making any major calls.”
It remains to be seen what the 76ers will do when it comes to Morey or even Nurse, as the team finished the season at a 45-37 record, which put them seventh in the Eastern Conference.
