An HBCU basketball star is getting a huge stage to show his talents ahead of the June NBA draft. Per a report by ClutchPoints Senior NBA Insider Brett Siegel, Tennessee State guard Aaron Nkrumah has received an invite to the NBA Draft Combine. The news was first reported by Draft Express.
“Tennessee State's Aaron Nkrumah has been called up from the G League Combine to the NBA Combine, a source tells DraftExpress. The Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year was a last-minute addition to Chicago after not being invited to the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament,” Draft Express reported on it's X account on Sunday.
Nkrumah is one of Nolan Smith's greatest success stories of his first season with the Tigers. He emerged as one of the top players in the Ohio Valley Conference this past season, earning OVC Player of the Year honors for his performance with Tennessee State. The 6-foot-6 guard from Worcester, Massachusetts, averaged 17.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game while also establishing himself as one of college basketball’s leaders in steals. He averaged 2.9 steals per game and finished the season with 87 total steals.

He brought attention to himself for his performance at the G-League Combine, as Siegel noted on his X account.
“In two scrimmages at the G League Combine, Nkrumah scored 31 points on 11-21 FG, 3-9 3PT. Keep a close eye on Nkrumah.”
If Nkrumah were to get drafted, he would be the first HBCU player selected since Kyle O'Quinn from Norfolk State University in the 2012 NBA Draft.
