The Golden State Warriors received positive news regarding Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo’s trade availability on Monday.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Bucks will listen to trade offers for Antetokounmpo, allowing the Dubs to potentially pull off the most impactful trade of the summer.
Before Charania’s report, the Warriors were named a top landing spot for a Boston Celtics NBA Finals MVP and five-time All-Star, giving Golden State all the hope they need to dominate the offseason trade market.
“If there was an opportunity for Boston to trade Jaylen Brown, this would probably be the off-season,” Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix reported Saturday.
“One team is going to get Giannis (Antetokounmpo), and that will probably leave five or six teams out there with young players, picks, draft capital, and a whole bunch of stuff that they could potentially offer Boston for Jaylen Brown in a trade."
“They’re hearing the reports of tension and wondering if there’s an opportunity to go get Jaylen Brown. And you can make an argument, honestly, that acquiring Jaylen Brown is a better decision than acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo (Mannix then named the Warriors, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, and Atlanta Hawks as potential suitors for Brown).”
If acquiring Antetokounmpo isn’t in the Warriors' future for whatever reason, pivoting to Brown would be a high-level option for Golden State.
Although Brown catches flak for failing to lead the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals the past few seasons, it’s important to remember he's a well-respected NBA champion guard who would be an elite sidekick to Stephen Curry in the Bay in 2026-27.
The right-hand dominant playmaker finished fourth in the league in scoring during the regular season (28.7 points), to go along with 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists.
Obviously, nothing is set in stone, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Warriors take Brown seriously as a blockbuster trade target this summer.
