One of the biggest questions for the Celtics this offseason is how they can prevent falling in the first round of the playoffs again. If Boston is looking to make serious roster changes, trading for Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo could be a possibility.
It appears that the Bucks and Antetokounmpo are likely heading toward a split this offseason. In light of this, Eric Pincus from Bleacher Report proposed a potential trade that would send Jaylen Brown to the Bucks in exchange for Antetokounmpo.
The Boston Celtics receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo, $706,566 trade exception
The Milwaukee Bucks receive: Jaylen Brown, Max Shulga, 2026 first-rounder (No. 27), 2027 first-rounder
"Brown is the best player the Bucks could receive in an Antetokounmpo, but the draft compensation is relatively sparse. This path represents Milwaukee's intent to compete as quickly as possible, rather than a measured retool," Pincus wrote on Monday.
If the Celtics want to add Antetokounmpo to their roster, they'll likely need to trade Brown, unless they are considering moving Jayson Tatum, which wouldn’t make sense.
Boston would become an automatic NBA Finals contender with Antetokounmpo and should be the favorite to come out of the East.
