Former Man City defender Micah Richards has questioned the assumption that Arsenal will sail through their last two fixtures.

After beating West Ham on Sunday evening, the Gunners know that wins against already relegated Burnley and a distracted Crystal Palace will be enough to secure their first title in 22 years.

Reacting to Alan Shearer’s comments on The Rest Is Football podcast that it will be easy for Mikel Arteta’s side, Richards pointed to City’s first Premier League title triumph back in 2012 to suggest things may not be so straightforward:

“But it’s not, it’s not going to be. I mean, on paper, yes. But look at the QPR game with Man City, you think that was going to be an easy game – it wasn’t.”

“I just feel as though, yeah, they probably will get it done now, and they’ve got to be super confident. Totally agree, but Palace.”

“He’s going to play second string, but players who have got something to prove also, so that can be sometimes be the hardest games, you know?”

Will Palace put up a fight against Arsenal?

Considering that the Eagles will be taking part in the Conference League final a few days after, it seems unlikely.

However, as Richards mentions, the second string will be keen to put their case forward for being selected to play against Rayo Vallecano.

What are the chances of Man City winning the title?

The odds are now very much stacked against Pep Guardiola‘s men. Statisticians Opta have given City just a 12.52% chance of finishing top of the league.

Of course, they have to do their job first and foremost by beating Palace themselves on Wednesday night, before finishing the campaign against Bournemouth and Aston Villa.
