The Los Angeles Lakers season officially came to an end after a painful 115-110 loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 4.
The Lakers battled until the final seconds, but Oklahoma City managed to close out the series and eliminate LeBron James and company from the playoffs. After the game, Lakers head coach JJ Redick shared an emotional message while reflecting on the end of the season.
"I think with the season end, there's always, I would say a whirlwind of emotions. Certainly feeling a sense of gratitude for our players, the Lakers, our fan base. Really like that," Redick said in a post-game press conference.
Despite trailing in the series, Redick praised the way his team continued to compete and refused to give up during Game 4.
"You've seen these 3-0 games before," he added. "I thought there were two different times during the game where our team could have gave in, could have let go of the rope. We didn't."
Redick also gave credit to the Lakers fans for the atmosphere during the elimination game.
"I thought the crowd was awesome tonight. And I've been part of these on both sides, where it's a 3-0 and you're playing on the road or you're playing at home. The crowd can just not be great. And the crowd was awesome tonight. Our fans are awesome. Yeah, gratitude," the coach concluded.
LeBron finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds in the loss, while Austin Reaves scored 27 points and Rui Hachimura added 25.
For Oklahoma City, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 35 points and eight assists as the Thunder continued their strong playoff run.
