Venue of the final: Puskás Arena in Budapest
UEFA has announced the referee appointment for the most important match in European club soccer. Germany’s Daniel Siebert will referee the highly anticipated final between Arsenal FC and Paris Saint-Germain at Puskás Arena.
Daniel Siebert has officially been appointed as the referee for the UEFA Champions League final on May 30 in Budapest. As the European soccer association announced, this marks a new highlight in the 42-year-old’s career.
Daniel Siebert, who has been active on the international stage since 2015, will referee his first major European cup final in the Hungarian capital.
This season, Daniel Siebert has shown strong performances in nine appearances in the Champions League. He has already officiated matches involving one of the finalists on multiple occasions. While he has not yet refereed defending champions Paris Saint-Germain this season, he has officiated two crucial matches for Arsenal FC—the first leg of the quarterfinals against Sporting Lisbon and the emotional second leg of the semifinals against Atlético Madrid.

He will be supported on the sidelines by a well-coordinated German team. Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn will serve as assistant referees. The on-field team is rounded out by Swiss official Sandro Schärer, who will serve as the fourth official. UEFA is also relying on German expertise in the video review room. Bastian Dankert and Robert Schröder, together with Spaniard Carlos Del Cerro Grande, make up the VAR team.
The final at Puskás Arena promises to be a clash of superlatives:
Arsenal FC: The “Gunners” secured their spot in the final as early as May 5. After a narrow but deserved 1-0 victory in the second leg against Atlético Madrid, the team prevailed with an aggregate score of 2-1 and became the first finalist.
Paris Saint-Germain: The defending champions from France sealed their place in the final just one day later. In a hard-fought match against FC Bayern Munich, a 1-1 draw was enough for PSG to end the Germans’ dreams and keep alive their chance to defend the title against Arsenal.
On May 30, the soccer world will turn its attention to Budapest when Daniel Siebert blows the whistle to kick off this prestigious showdown.
