Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola responds when asked about VAR controversy in Arsenal win

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola refused to get involved in the VAR controversy that headlined Arsenal's crucial 1-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League over the weekend.

Callum Wilson's stoppage-time equalizer was ruled out by VAR after an incident involving Gunners keeper David Raya and Hammers forward Pablo. According to reports, the Hammers are set to file a formal complaint with the PGMOL over the disallowed goal.

If the goal had been allowed, the PL race for the title and relegation would've been blown wide open. A point could have helped West Ham in their bid to stay in the league amid competition from Tottenham, and a draw could've seen Arsenal drop to 2nd in the table if Manchester City win their game against Crystal Palace.

Speaking ahead of the game against Palace, Guardiola gave his take on the decision and responded when asked about his players' reaction to the events. He said (via football.london):

"It is a question for the referees, it is their decision. VAR has been here for many years, it is not just last weekend. We adapt, we know it, everyone knows it."

"I didn't see the players, I gave them a day off. Crystal Palace. What you cannot control you forget about it. Crystal Palace."

Manchester City will hope Arsenal drops points in their remaining two games as they are 5 points behind the leaders with a game in hand. The Cityzens will take on Crystal Palace on May 13 at the Etihad Stadium before their last 2 games of the season against Bournemouth and Aston Villa. The Gunners will play against Burnley and Palace, and hope to secure their first PL title in over 20 years.

Arsenal eyeing up move for Manchester City star in the summer: Reports

Arsenal are reportedly plotting a summer move for Manchester City star Tijjani Reijnders in the summer transfer window. According to reports, Man City is set to hold talks with Reijnders' representatives to discuss his future at the club. Following his move to the PL club from AC Milan in 2025, Reijnders has fallen down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.

Arsenal is among the many clubs interested in signing the Dutch midfielder in the summer. If he moves to the North London side in the summer, Reijnders would become the third Manchester City star, after Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus, to be signed by the Gunners under Mikel Arteta.
