Lakers' LeBron James Answers If His 23rd NBA Season Was a Disappointment

LeBron James went all out for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2025-26 NBA playoffs. In 10 postseason games played, he averaged 23.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.3 steals.

Unfortunately, the Lakers simply didn't have enough to overcome the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference semifinals. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and company swept L.A., winning Game 4 on Monday 115-110.

The Lakers lost by an average margin of 16 points against OKC, highlighting how the Thunder overwhelmed them throughout the series.

For the Lakers faithful, it's certainly a frustrating development, especially amid the high expectations for the team when the season started. Many thought that L.A. could contend for the title with the trio of James, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves leading the way.

For James, however, he personally doesn't see his 23rd NBA season being a massive disappointment.

"Listen, [expletive], I left everything I could out on the floor," James told reporters after the Lakers' playoff exit, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN. "I'm not looking at my year as a disappointment, that's for [expletive] sure."

James did play in 60 games during the regular season, putting up 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.2 steals. While a lot of people thought he would start to slow down at age 41, he proved time and time again that he still has what it takes to lead a team.

It's unknown what's next for James. He is set to be an unrestricted free agent this 2026 offseason, and there have been mumblings about a potential retirement or departure from L.A.

Whatever he decides to do, James has certainly cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players in the game, and he has nothing left to prove.
