Pelinka said it is an ongoing collaborative process with Luka and that they are in constant communication, adding that they are going to meet this week before Doncic's trip back home to Europe.

"The key word is that it's an ongoing collaborative process. We're in constant communication with him and his team. I plan on seeing him before he takes off to go home and spend some time with his daughters," Pelinka stated on Tuesday.

"We're going to get together probably on Friday or Saturday. He's an incredible partner. His basketball IQ on the court is something we get to see as fans, JJ and I get to see his basketball knowledge in terms of other players in the league and how he wants to play and who he wants to play with."

"He wants to do his job great, and he wants to let JJ do his job great and me do my job great. They really are productive conversations through that lens," he added.

Luka Doncic had a career year in his second season with the Lakers, averaging a league-best 33.5 points per game, while also adding 7.7 rebounds and 8.5 assists on average.

Meanwhile, the Lakers took a positive step forward this season, clinching the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference before ultimately ending their run in the second round of the playoffs against the OKC Thunder.
