Sad news today in the NBA as [multiple sources are reporting](https://x.com/mikeascotto/status/2054260558875025868?s=46) that Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke has passed away at the age of 29. Clarke played college ball at San Jose State and Gonzaga University before being drafted 21st overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder traded Clarke to the Grizzlies two weeks later. He played seven years in Memphis.
Clarke had been suffering from a calf injury which kept him out most of the 2025-26 season. He encountered [some legal troubles](https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/48372917/grizzlies-clarke-arrested-arkansas-drug-speeding-charges) during his absence from the team. No reports on cause of death have been issued as of this time.
