NBA ends Bucks-Giannis injury investigation with no further action warranted

As there is an immense amount of rumors surrounding Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, as the team is reportedly open for business on trading the 31-year-old, there was another wrinkle in the relationship that had to be settled. With the NBA investigating the Bucks into how the team handled Antetokounmpo and his injuries, the resolution of that situation has been finalized.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the league has finished the investigation into Milwaukee, finding that “no further action is warranted.”

“The NBA concluded its investigation into the Milwaukee Bucks over the shutdown and health of Giannis Antetokounmpo late in the season and has determined that no further action is warranted, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

As Charania mentioned, the investigation by the NBA surrounded the team in how they shut down Antetokounmpo due to health, though the star had been publicly advocating to be healthy enough to play.

The NBA had looked into Bucks shutting down Giannis Antetokounmpo

Antetokounmpo would injure his knee in the March 15 win over the Indiana Pacers, as he ended up missing the final 15 games of the regular season. With the league opening up an investigation, the NBA told Charania on April 4 that “certain facts remain in dispute.”

‘The NBA’s Player Participation Policy investigation into the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo is ongoing, and certain facts remain in dispute,” the statement from the league read. “The investigation has found that the Bucks scheduled Giannis to work out last week in three-on-three scrimmages as part of his return-to-play process, but he declined to participate. There is a disagreement as to whether the team requested that Giannis participate in a group workout earlier this week, and the league is continuing to monitor the situation.”

At any rate, the investigation between the league and the Bucks is over, but the speculation with Antetokounmpo is far from it, as his name has been involved in a myriad of trade rumors, with a resolution to that matter still up in the air.
