With the Washington Wizards having the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, it appears that the consensus is that BYU star Dybantsa will be the selection. As Dybantsa is the potential pick for the Wizards, he would send a message to the team as he's currently participating in the NBA Draft Combine.
Dybantsa would speak to ESPN during the Combine and was asked why Washington should pick him with the No. 1 pick, and his response is one that every fan and member of the team itself should be excited about.
“‘I'm super versatile, I think I can bring a lot to the team on and off the court. I think I play the game the right way, but I'm exciting. I fill seats,” Dybantsa said.

There is no denying how exciting a prospect Dybantsa is in his freshman season with the Cougars. He averaged 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 51 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from beyond the arc. The 25.5 points per game led the entire nation, showing how well of a scorer he can be at the collegiate level, with many thinking it could easily translate to the NBA level.
The Wizards could add Dybantsa to a team that already has stars such as Trae Young and Anthony Davis, to go along with other young prospects in previous drafts. At any rate, it remains to be seen if Washington picks Dybantsa at the first overall pick, as the team looks to improve after finishing with a 17-65 record, which was the worst record in the entire NBA.
