Good news and bad news for the Minnesota Timberwolves after losing in Game 5 against the San Antonio Spurs. The good news is they will have a two-day rest before Game 6. The bad news is the Spurs will have it as well.
The Timberwolves were trampled by the Spurs, 126-97, at Frost Bank Center on Tuesday. Their backs are against the wall when they host the Spurs in Game 6 at Target Center on Friday.
The two-day respite should help Anthony Edwards, who recently returned from a knee injury. He said he is looking forward to it.
“I'm so happy. I'm ready to get two days. I mean, it's not really going to be a break, but it's going to be two days. I'm excited for it,” said Edwards in the postgame conference.

Edwards, who spoke candidly about their loss, had 20 points, two rebounds, two assists, and four turnovers.
Fans had varied reactions to Edwards' remark.
“The scary thing is that a rested Anthony Edwards usually means somebody is about to suffer in Game 6,” said @two_edged.

“You about to have a lot of days off after Friday, buddy,” added @gay_locks.
“He’s about to get a whole summer after Friday,” echoed @KOHuerta.
“Ant out here celebrating the off-days like he just won the lottery. Bro needed this reset badly after those 40+ minute grinds. Wolves better come out flying on Friday,” wrote @xGWhisperer02.
“Ant really sounded like a man begging for sleep. Those last 3 games had him carrying playoff-level cardio,” commented @FinelyBrewed.
Edwards has had a pedestrian performance in the best-of-seven affair, and that won't cut it against the Spurs, who are looking to advance to the conference finals for the first time since 2017.
He has averaged 40 minutes in the last three games after coming off the bench in the first two games.
