Victor Wembanyama breaks silence on Naz Reid vicious elbow incident

Victor Wembanyama had already moved on from what happened between him and Naz Reid, as the Spurs star was notably ejected for elbowing the big man in Game 4.

Victor Wembanyama has no time to think about what he could have done differently or any potential regrets upon ejecting himself early in Game 4 of the NBA Playoffs between the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reflecting on what happened between him and Naz Reid, Wembanyama made it clear that he had already moved on from the incident.

“It was two games ago. It’s the playoffs. I’m focused," he told reporters after leading the Spurs' 126-97 dominant Game 5 victory against the Timberwolves. "I was focused on the game today, and now I’m focused on the game in Minnesota in three days.

"It’s the playoffs. We’ve got to move on, and I’ve got to care about my team.”

Wembanyama was notably tossed in the Spurs' Game 4 loss for striking a hard right elbow to the chin and neck of Reid in the second quarter of Sunday's match in Minnesota.

In the wake of many's anticipation, considering the severity of the blow, the NBA didn't hand any punishment against the French superstar.

His immense productivity is deeply rooted in the fact that he only had minimal playtime after being thrown out of the Spurs' Game 4.

“Very, very much," Wembanyama said about how much he was itching to get back on the court after the Reid incident. "I mean, I was fresh and feeling good, but honestly, it’s hard to tell if it was just Game 5.

"Obviously, I’m going to be excited and have butterflies, so excitement isn’t something abnormal at this point in the playoffs.”

One win away from the franchise's first Conference Finals appearance since 2017, Wembanyama and the Spurs will look to get the job done back in Minnesota for Game 6 on Friday.
