According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, a Joel Embiid-for-Domantas Sabonis trade could work this offseason, as both star big men could use a fresh start after a couple of underwhelming seasons with their respective franchises.
"One long-shot scenario that does get mentioned by rival team strategists is an Embiid-for-Domantas Sabonis swap with Sacramento," Fischer reports. "But even long-shot might be underselling it."
"Both former All-Star big men could probably use a fresh start, but there's just no getting around the fact that Embiid, at 32, seems incapable of holding up for a deep playoff run. Which certainly shortens the list of potential suitors," he adds.
Former MVP Joel Embiid spent another season mostly injured, appearing in only 38 games. He still averaged impressive numbers: 26.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game.
On the other hand, three-time NBA All-Star Domantas Sabonis appeared in only 19 games due to injuries, averaging 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.
