LeBron James reportedly felt that the Los Angeles Lakers took him for granted after GM Rob Pelinka did not give him the game ball following his record-breaking achievement for most wins in NBA history, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
"James, who played the past eight seasons in Los Angeles and helped deliver the franchise its 17th championship in 2020, saw Pelinka's priority in that moment as yet another example of the Lakers taking him for granted, sources said."
The 41-year-old has not yet announced his retirement and is still deciding whether to continue playing after his 23rd NBA season.
Just days ago, LeBron was performing at an All-Star level in the playoffs and remained the team's primary option.
Since joining the Lakers, he has maintained his All-Star streak since 2018, won the 2020 NBA title, and led the team to the 2023 NBA Cup, providing significant value during his tenure in Los Angeles.

For now, he remains undecided, though he has given indications about his future.
According to The Athletic, both James and the Lakers remain interested in continuing their partnership.
"We probably haven't seen a player that has honored the game to the extent that he's honored the game. He's given so much to his teammates, to this organization. The thing we want to do more than anything else is to honor him back," Pelinka said during Tuesday's exit interviews.
