SGA sends honest message to Los Angeles Lakers fans

OKC star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said he understands why opposing fans, including Lakers supporters, criticize him: "I get it, guys. I would hate me too."

Reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sent a message to Los Angeles Lakers fans after the Oklahoma City Thunder swept the Lakers 4-0.

SGA, who is often criticized for foul baiting and perceived favorable referee calls, addressed the fans:

"The way I see it, the fans – the people that watch the games and root against us – want their team to win. You will never hear an Oklahoma City Thunder fan complain about my free throws.

"You will never hear a Lakers fan complain about LeBron or Luka's free throws. I get it, guys. I would hate me too."

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 24.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in the second-round series against the Lakers.

The defending NBA champions will face either the San Antonio Spurs or the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.
