Doctor Jesse Morse said Luka Doncic had "zero chance" of returning this season if his hamstring injury was truly a Grade 3 strain.
Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic reportedly underwent a medical evaluation in Spain that revealed his hamstring injury was closer to a Grade 3 strain, according to The Athletic.
Sports doctor Jesse Morse said that if the injury was truly a Grade 3 strain, Doncic realistically had no chance of returning this season.
"If Luka's hamstring strain was a true Grade 3, then he had zero chance of returning this season.
If he truly only received just '4 rounds of PRP' as has been reported, then the treating team did him a disservice and really gave him no shot of returning.
PRP is really only good at mild to moderate injuries, not severe ones like Luka had.
His medical team should have used higher-level regenerative medicine products, including amniotic/connective tissue allograft, culture-expanded MSCs, and exosomes.
They're stronger, significantly less inflammatory, and give him the best chance to optimize the recovery of the tissue.
Why they reportedly didn't, I don't know.

The analogy I usually use is:
That's like you're a multimillionaire, and you chose to race with a Toyota Corolla over a Bugatti for the most important race of your life.
Corolla = PRP
Bugatti = Stem Cells
Both will finish the race, but the recovery timeline, potency, safety, etc., are completely different.
This should serve as a major learning point for all teams, medical providers, and athletes, especially professional athletes."
Doncic missed 15 games after suffering the injury, while the Lakers went 7-8 during that stretch. Los Angeles was later swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the playoffs.
