Jeanie Buss gives cryptic answer if LeBron James will receive Lakers statue

Lakers owner Jeanie Buss will entertain the idea of giving LeBron James a statue outside of Crypto.com Arena once the 41-year-old superstar is done playing the game.

Many have been arguing that LeBron James deserves his very own statue for leading the Los Angeles Lakers, as his arrival in 2018 paved the way for the franchise to regain relevance.

As far as Jeanie Buss is concerned, she would rather discuss the possibility of a LeBron statue outside the Crypto.com Arena once the 41-year-old great retires.

In a viral encounter with a fan, the Lakers governor offered her thoughts on whether James will get a special honor from the organization.

"He's still playing. We don't talk about statues until someone retires," Buss said after a laugh.

"He's playing great."

Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O'Neal, Elgin Baylor and Kobe Bryant (who has two separate monuments with his daughter Gianna) are the only Lakers legends who have been honored with bronze statues outside Crypto.com Arena.

"We've talked about that. The first statue was Magic [Johnson]. Then we've gone back and added Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] and players like that," Buss added. "It's always out there."
