Daryl Morey attempted to trade for Warriors guard, others before 76ers firing

Dismissed 76ers president Daryl Morey had a failed trade attempts on Jalen Smith, Aaron Wiggins, Tari Eason, Saddiq Bey, Naji Marshall, Donte DiVincenzo, Brandon Podziemski and Ryan Dunn.

Daryl Morey is officially out as the president of basketball operations for the Philadelphia 76ers, leaving the franchise after six seasons.

Months before his eventual dismissal, he apparently attempted to make a significant splash for the Sixers.

Per Adam Aaronson of the Philly Voice, Morey and the 76ers attempted to go after Jalen Smith of the Chicago Bulls, Aaron Wiggins of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Tari Eason of the Houston Rockets, Saddiq Bey of the New Orleans Pelicans, Naji Marshall of the Dallas Mavericks, Donte DiVincenzo of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Brandon Podziemski of the Golden State Warriors and Ryan Dunn of the Phoenix Suns.

Unfortunately, Morey failed to land any of these players.

In the past trade deadline, sending away Jared McCain to the OKC Thunder for a 2026 first-round pick and three second-round picks only served as Morey's transaction.

For claiming that they "sold high" on the McCain trade, Morey instantly drew flak as the talented sophomore guard blossomed and became another key cog to the defending champs.

Morey has exited the Sixers following the team's second-round brutal sweep at the hands of the New York Knicks.

Despite drafting Tyrese Maxey, landing James Harden for Ben Simmons and signing Paul George to a lucrative max deal, Philadelphia still hasn't reached the Conference Finals since 2000 under Morey's leadership.
