AJ Dybantsa’s reported preferred NBA Draft destination revealed

AJ Dybantsa reportedly wanted to stay in Utah, as the potential No. 1 pick of this year's draft is set to enter the NBA next month.

AJ Dybantsa is poised to get chosen as the No. 1 pick of the 2026 NBA Draft.

Amid anticipation that he would go as the top prospect of the league this year, Dybantsa reportedly wanted to stay and play in Utah, according to Adam Finkelstein of CBS Sports.

"He's been in Utah now for two years (one season at Utah Prep and one season in Provo at BYU). His family is now with him in Utah, and they've grown to like the state and were hoping to stay," Finkelstein wrote.

"Now that has led some to wonder whether we could see some 'workout shenanigans' where Dybantsa could potentially refuse to work out for Washington in hopes of forcing his way to Utah. The Wizards themselves have been very willing to utilize that strategy themselves in recent years with both Alex Sarr and, ironically Ace Bailey, who is of course now in Utah."

As it is, the Washington Wizards hit the jackpot and won this year's lottery, having the golden chance to pick first in the NBA Draft since 2010 (John Wall).

As such, recent reports suggest that the Wizards would be at least open to considering any potential deals around the No. 1 pick.

This could be the chance for Dybantsa to fulfill his reported desire, as the Jazz have landed No. 2 in the lottery.

The nation's top talent this year, Dybantsa led college basketball with 25.5 points along with 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 51.0 percent from the field.

Following the Draft Combine, he sent bold words on why he should be chosen as the No. 1 overall pick of the upcoming draft.
