Former NBA champion and unsuccessful Free National Movement (FNM) candidate for Garden Hills, Rick Fox, has extended an olive branch to Prime Minister Philip Davis, expressing his willingness to collaborate to move the nation forward.
Despite his electoral defeat to the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) incumbent Mario Bowleg, Fox said he remains committed to contributing to the country's progress.
In a video shared to his Facebook page, Fox congratulated Bowleg on his back-to-back electoral success. He also conveyed his well-wishes to Prime Minister Davis, acknowledging Davis’s ongoing service to the Bahamian people. "I stand ready and willing to work with you to move our country forward," Fox added.
Fox expressed gratitude to FNM Leader Michael Pintard and the party, describing his campaign experience as an honor and emphasizing their shared dedication to the nation.
Addressing his supporters in Garden Hills, Fox reflected on his election journey.
“I met so many of you during this election season,” he said. “Every single day, you lifted my spirit, encouraged me, prayed with me, walked with me, and showed me why Garden Hills is so special. Thank you for coming out and for voting.
“Whether you realise it or not, we are all ambassadors for the great Commonwealth of Bahamas. I appreciate all of the prayers, love, and strength you poured into me during this time."
Fox highlighted the broader role of all Bahamians as ambassadors of the nation and expressed his gratitude for the support he received. He concluded with a message of resilience, drawing on his athletic background, "Nobody likes to lose, but sometimes setbacks give us the opportunity to reflect, grow, sharpen ourselves, and come back wiser, stronger, and more prepared for what's next."
