With the Clippers landing a coveted No. 5 pick for this year's NBA Draft, it seems that Draymond Green is urging LA to think about how the upcoming young talent will mesh up with Kawhi Leonard.
Other than the Washington Wizards, who nailed the top overall selection, the Los Angeles Clippers are simply another big-time winner of the past NBA Draft lottery.
The Clippers had a stroke of luck by securing the No. 5 pick of this year's rookie selection, landing the selection at unprecedented odds.
Instead of the Indiana Pacers, who embraced a tank season with 17 wins, it was the Clippers who benefited and earned the promising pick thanks to the Ivica Zubac deal.
With a talented prospect about to arrive in LA, Draymond Green had plenty of interesting words about the Clippers' commitment to Kawhi Leonard. In the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, the Golden State Warriors star appears to be urging the Clippers to deal the superstar forward on their side.
The full statement of Green can be viewed below:
"You talk about the Golden State Warriors, who have won championships, you have to look at the Los Angeles Clippers in the fifth spot and say: 'Huh, what are they gonna do?' Are they going to draft the fifth pick and put him next to Kawhi Leonard or are they going to move Kawhi Leonard, try to get more draft assets, and start a rebuild?" Green claimed.
As such, expectations are there already that the Dubs will revisit their trade interest in the two-time Finals MVP.
By welcoming a new young piece to build on their new core, the Clippers' plans and long-term outlook with Leonard will certainly be anticipated this offseason.
