The 2026 NBA Draft is only a few short weeks away, and we are already quickly piecing together who might go where and which prospects could be rising up the rankings before next month’s big day.
One main character heading into that date is BYU’s AJ Dybantsa, who many pundits are categorizing as the top prospect of the class following an incredible season in Utah with the Cougars.
And following a tremendous year in which he gave it his all despite injuries to other star players around him, it appears as if Dybantsa also knows where he wants to play next season.
Back in the state where he finished high school and college: Utah.

The Utah Jazz have the No. 2 pick in the draft, and though Dybantsa is currently being linked to the Washington Wizards with the top spot, a lot can change in the next month.
“The BYU star implied that he was open to working out for more than one team (two to be exact),” wrote CBS Sports’ Adam Finkelstein in his musings learned about the draft combine. “That comment by Dybantsa was also consistent with one of the most repeated pieces of intel floating around Chicago this week: that Dybantsa was reportedly hoping to stay in Utah.
“He’s been in Utah now for two years (one season at Utah Prep and one season in Provo at BYU). His family is now with him in Utah, and they’ve grown to like the state and were hoping to stay.”
The Wizards are also allegedly open to trading the pick, per the team’s ownership, if a move makes sense and could add more than one young piece for the future.
Dybantsa seems to want to be part of the Jazz. Now we’ll see how much the Jazz want Dybantsa in their jersey.
