Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has delivered injury updates on Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber ahead of the Premier League clash against Burnley on Monday night.

Calafiori was replaced at half-time in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over West Ham last weekend, with Arteta confirming the Italian defender had picked up a knock.

There has since been some suggestions that Calafiori’s issue is not too serious after he was spotted sprinting from the dugout at the London Stadium to join in the celebrations after Leandro Trossard had broken the deadlock.

Though when speaking in the pre-match press conference on Thursday morning, Arteta said:" We don't know whether he's going to be available or not.

“We still have days ahead. Hopefully it's nothing serious."

The Gunners will be without Ben White against Burnley after the defender suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Hammers, leaving Arteta short of options at right-back.

Timber has not featured for Arsenal since the 2-0 win over Everton two months ago because of an ongoing groin issue, but Arteta has revealed the Dutchman is making good progress.

Injury update: Jurrien Timber

The Arsenal manager said: “He wanted to be very close to the team [against West Ham]. He's progressed a little bit in the last few days. He's feeling better.

“We're going to try and get him fit and available as soon as possible but let's see."

Arteta was then asked if Timber could feature in either of the remaining Premier League fixtures or the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on May 30.

"There is a chance. How big that chance is I cannot tell you, being completely honest,” the Spaniard responded.

“He's going to try to do everything he can to convert that chance as much as possible."
