Arne Slot has confirmed Mohamed Salah is in line to return for Liverpool against Aston Villa on Friday, although Alisson Becker remains a doubt for the penultimate Premier League fixture.

Salah has been out since being forced off against Crystal Palace last month with a hamstring problem, which threatened to bring an early end to his final season at Anfield.

Alisson, meanwhile, has been out of action since the 4-0 win over Galatasaray in the Champions League in March. The goalkeeper had been expected to return this month, although Giorgi Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman have had to continue deputising for him so far.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Slot said: "Ibou [Konate]'s okay, he trained with us.

"Mo will be available tomorrow for only a few minutes, but hopefully can come in.

"Alisson - we'll see where he is tomorrow, if he's ready or if he has to train with us for one more week."

The updates come as rumors persist that both players could be leaving Liverpool this summer.

Salah has of course already confirmed that he will be making his exit at the end of the season, having reached an agreement for the final year of his contract to be waived.

There are question marks over Alisson's future though. Liverpool has triggered the option for an extra year on his contract, but there is growing speculation that he could be heading for Juventus this summer.

Elsewhere, Florian Wirtz could also be in line to return against Villa, having been left out of the squad against Chelsea last weekend through illness. Slot confirmed the German international is on antibiotics as he looks to overcome his stomach infection.

The Reds remain without long-term injury cases Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni, although Wataru Endo could yet make a return before the end of the season.
