Arne Slot: “I have every reason to believe I’m the Liverpool manager next season”

Arne Slot says he has “every reason to believe” he will still be Liverpool manager at the start of next season.

With two games remaining in a disappointing season, Slot was peppered with questions pertaining to his future ahead of the final away match of 2025/26.

Asked for a definitive answer on whether he will be Liverpool manager next season, he said: “I don’t think I’m deciding that alone.

“But I have every reason to believe I’m the Liverpool manager next season.

“First of all, I’m contracted to this club, and second of all, from all the talks we’re having. That is my take on it.

“But as you said, if you don’t have the best season, especially if you compare it with last season, if you compare it with other seasons, maybe you have a different debate.

“But if you compare it with last season, this has definitely not been a great season, then it’s also normal that criticism comes.

“And I think we’ve all had our share, and with all I mean, the players have had their share, the manager has had their share, and other people in the club have had their share.

“That is how things work nowadays, if you don’t win the league.”

Slot’s comments follow a report from GiveMeSport‘s Ben Jacobs, which claimed Liverpool have “no plans to complete a summer review,” with the Dutchman “not under pressure to be sacked.”

The head coach’s comments certainly support the report, with mention of the “talks” he has had with the hierarchy indicating that he is not unsure of his position.

The 47-year-old insisted, “it’s not up to me to judge people who judge me,” and that he has been part of the discussions regarding transfer targets and summer plans.
