Arsenal U18s set to conclude season against Crystal Palace

Just like the first-team, Arsenal U18s will end their league season with an away game against Crystal Palace.

However, whilst the senior side are in contention for the title that certainly isn’t the case for the U18s, who have lacked consistency throughout the campaign.

Arsenal are currently in 11th place out of 15 teams and the highest position in which they could potentially finish is 10th.

It remains to be seen whether coach Adam Birchall will name his strongest possible side for this fixture or whether he will instead give opportunities to some of the younger players at his disposal.

In any case it seems likely that schoolboy Kyran Thompson will be involved in some capacity.

The 16-year-old has featured prominently for the U18s this season and has demonstrated his versatility by operating as a striker at times while he can also play out wide.

The experience that Thompson has gained this season should stand him in good stead for the next campaign, when he will be a first year scholar and will be aiming to get further chances with the older age groups having already featured for the U21s and U19s.

There will hopefully be changes in the academy this summer but for now the focus is on ending the season strongly against Palace.
