Arne Slot makes bold Liverpool future claim

**Arne Slot says he has ‘every reason to believe’ he will remain Liverpool head coach.**

Slot’s beleaguered tenure continues to face growing scrutiny after a dismal season in which his side’s Premier League title defence had rapidly disintegrated.

The Dutchman faced fresh dissent from supporters during [last weekend’s draw with Chelsea](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/65254-liverpool-1-1-chelsea-three-talking-points-rio-ngumoha-cody-gakpo-jeremie-frimpong/), leading to mounting suggestions that he could be deposed this summer.

Anfield chiefs are currently understood to have no plans to part with Slot at the end of the campaign despite the club’s sharp downturn in fortunes in the past 12 months.

Slot has another year remaining on his current contract with the Reds and firmly believes he will still be in the hot seat when the 2026/27 season gets underway.

He said: “I don’t think I’m deciding that alone, but I have every reason to believe I’m the Liverpool manager next season.

“First of all, I’m contracted to this club, and second of all, from all the talks we’re having. That is my take on it.

“But if you don’t have the best season, especially if you compare it with last season, if you compare it with other seasons, maybe you have a different debate.

“If you compare it with last season, this has definitely not been a great season, then it’s also normal that criticism comes.

“I think we’ve all had our share, and with all I mean, the players have had their share, the manager has had their share, and other people in the club have had their share.

“That is how things work nowadays, if you don’t win the league.”
