Salah, Gibbs-White, Casemiro and more: Latest FPL injury news for Gameweek 37 ahead of…

The latest Fantasy Premier League injury news ahead of Friday’s Gameweek 37 deadline.

Just two gameweeks remain before the end of the Fantasy Premier League season, and every last decision feels like it counts for double as players hunt down landmarks and mini-league wins – so we’re back with our regular round-up of all of the latest FPL injury news ahead of Friday’s 18:30 BST deadline.

Mohamed Salah, Morgan Gibbs-White, Florian Wirtz, Jurriën Timber and Casemiro are among the big names who are at risk of missing time during Gameweek 37, and we’ve got updates on their status below, along with those of all of the other FPL-relevant players who are out or doubts – and as always, we’ll be updating this article after the Friday press conferences.

Will Mohamed Salah play vs Aston Villa?

Mohamed Salah: There’s good news and bad news for players who fancied taking a flyer on the departing Egyptian winger ahead of the end of the season – while Arne Slot confirmed on Thursday that Salah had returned to training ahead of Friday night’s game against Aston Villa, Liverpool’s head coach added that he would only be “available for a few minutes,” suggesting a place on the bench is the best his owners can hope for as he comes back from a hamstring injury.

Florian Wirtz, Alisson Becker & Ibrahima Konaté: Salah isn’t the only doubt in the build-up to Friday’s match – Wirtz has a stomach bug, is on antibiotics, and seems to be a pretty big doubt, while Alisson is back in training after missing the last nine matches but Slot wouldn’t confirm that he’s ready to go. We’d steer clear of both this week. Centre-back Konaté is fine, however, with his ‘injury’ last week proving to be nothing more than cramp.

Morgan Gibbs-White: The rather gruesome facial injury that kept Gibbs-White out of last week’s matches means he’s both a doubt for the weekend and the FPL’s most transferred-out player right now. Vítor Pereira has kept his cards close to his chest so far, and the attacking midfielder has to go down as a significant doubt for now. Murillo and Dan Ndoye sound relatively likely to play after lay-offs, with Ola Aina another player who could come back. With Nottingham Forest now able to get ready for the beach, we’d give their injured assets a swerve under the circumstances.

Casemiro & Benjamin Šeško: Casemiro has been among the best cheap midfielders in the game this season but missed the match against Sunderland last weekend. Michael Carrick has suggested that he would be available to face Forest on Sunday, however, and the Brazilian is back in training. There’s much less certainty over the status of Slovenian striker Šeško, however – Carrick had appeared to downplay the severity of a shin injury sustained against Liverpool but he missed out last week and we haven’t had any updates since. A more significant doubt than we first realised, unfortunately.

Jurriën Timber: Arsenal are expected to wrap Timber in cotton wool ahead of the Champions League final in the hope that he’s fit to face PSG – we don’t know who will play at right-back this weekend, but it would be a shock if it was the Dutchman. Ben White is out for the season, while Riccardo Calafiori will be assessed due to an knock sustained against West Ham. His status is uncertain. Mikel Merino probably won’t be back this week, with no suggestions that he has returned to full training after foot surgery. The Spaniard is back on grass, at least, but only doing fitness work for now.

Spurs & Manchester City stars among FPL injury worries

Dominic Solanke & Guglielmo Vicario: Roberto De Zerbi said that he has “hope” that Solanke will be involved against Chelsea on Tuesday, but we wouldn’t bet the house on it – he’s apparently recovering well from his hamstring injury but will likely be touch and go at best. Vicario remains a doubt, with his timeline for a return unclear following hernia surgery. Given the form of Anton Kinský, we wouldn’t be shocked if he was on the bench when he comes back anyway.

Rodri: The Spanish midfielder probably won’t make it into many teams when he comes back given that most teams already have three Manchester City players, but he is back in training and could feature in some capacity this weekend. Abdukodir Khusanov could return from a knock he picked up against Everton, too.

Noah Okafor: The Swiss striker’s recent purple patch came to an abrupt end with a calf injury and he’s been ruled out of this weekend’s game against Brighton – but could make it back in time to face West Ham on the final day. We’re waiting for updates on Pascal Struijk, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jayden Bogle, with all doubts following recent injuries. As yet, we have no idea which of them might be available.

Kaoru Mitoma: Mitoma suffered a hamstring injury against Wolves last weekend and while Fabian Hürzeler has yet to confirm the results of scans, it doesn’t sound good – The Japan Times report that he is expected to miss the rest of the season and the World Cup. That could be confirmed during Friday’s press conference. Mats Wieffer and Diego Gomez are doubts.

Robert Sánchez & Pedro Neto: Both Chelsea players are doubts for Tuesday’s game as it stands, with Sánchez coming back from a head injury and Neto recovering from a muscle strain. We have no confirmation of their availability as it stands, with Calum McFarlane expected to offer some updates on Friday – but there is tentative optimism among reporters that both will be able to play in Saturday’s FA Cup final and beyond.
