Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher sends'we are proud'message to daughter

The message comes after an exciting week for the Carragher family

Former Liverpool FC defender Jamie Carragher has sent message to his daughter Mia as she celebrates her birthday today. Carragher has shared a lot of support for his daughter in recent months after she made a huge step in her early acting career by landing the role of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games on Stage.

Pictures of Carragher with his daughter were uploaded to Instagram to celebrate the special occasion. He captioned the post: "Happy birthday Mia. We all love you so much.

"We are all proud of everything you are doing right now. Never change from that little pocket rocket you have always been my girl." A further message was shared to Carragher's Instagram story, it said: "Happy birthday Mia. We love you more than you will ever know my girl."

Mia, who is celebrating her 22nd birthday today, has received hundreds of birthday messages. Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said "Happy birthday" and former Liverpool forward Michael Owen wrote "Happy birthday Mia." Further birthday wishes came from Robbie Fowler and Robbie Keane.

The upcoming actress regularly shares insights of her time in London and she hasn't forgotten her roots despite spending much of the last couple of months outside of Liverpool. A picture of a bracelet was shared on Mia's Instagram Story, it had "Scouse Katniss" written on it alongside pearl and star beads.

The stage adaptation is based on the book series, written by Suzanne Collins. It is taking place in purpose-built, state-of-the-art venue, Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre. It is the first ever theatre adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ internationally acclaimed book and the subsequent movie series.

Before the live shows got underway, a photo of Mia's script was shared with a message from Suzanne attached. A personal message to Mia, said: "For Mia, may the odds be ever in your favour. Thank you for your amazing work bringing Katniss to life on the stage. Love Suzanne Collins."

After receiving the incredible role, Mia said: "I am so excited and honoured to be playing Katniss. This is a dream come true role and I cannot wait to see the production come to life.

"From being a huge fan of the films, I feel so lucky to be a part of the Hunger Games world, especially working with Matthew Dunster and an incredible creative team."

Carragher and his family celebrated the first official opening night of The Hunger Games: On Stage on November 12 2025. Alongside his wife Nicola, the parents have been vocal about their support for daughter Mia.

This week marked a significant week for Carragher and his own career. The football pundit has been announced as an advisor to non-league Crosby-based side Marine FC.

Marine were promoted in 2022 and 2024 and they will be hoping to continue success with Carragher sharing his own experience and insight with the board.

Carragher told PA: "Marine is a proper community football club with good people involved and a clear vision for where it wants to go. I've enjoyed watching the progress the club has made over recent years and I'm pleased to be able to support the club in an advisory capacity going forward."
